Slumdog Kids in Brooks Brothers, J. Crew also on the Red Carpet

Happy Day everyone, as we draw closer to the end of the season’s dreariest month, although it has been bright and sunny of late here at the Prepatorium, simply because we say it must be! No blahs allowed. Scat! Scram! Vamoose!

We begin with some Red Carpet fashions from Sunday night’s Academy Award ceremonies. Many know about our next Oscar dress story, but first, a look at the younger set from Slumdog Millionaire.

In Friday’s post we mentioned the possibility of ABC’s Robin Roberts wearing J. Crew while co-hosting the network’s Red Carpet show Sunday night.

The Good Morning America anchor did several stories about selecting a dress for the high-profile telecast, and viewers voted online to pick the gown she should wear.  The big winner? J. Crew’s Gracie gown from the Weddings and Parties Collection.

The gown is shown on the website, but is not at J. Crew stores, available only through the catalog and website. Below, Ms. Roberts and Crew’s Jenna Lyons look at accessories with Suze Yalof Schwartz of Glamour magazine.

And one more J. Crew look that Ms. Roberts did not select.

  1. Wow I had no idea Ms. Roberts is so thin. She looks gorgeous!

  2. I am still waiting to hear from Lilly Pulitzer to contact me about
lily modeling for them. Until I hear from them I think I am going to dress my dog-aughter in Burberry; English prep.

  3. I confess to having been confused why Robin Roberts was on the red carpet – before I figured out the cross-marketing angle, that is – but I will say that she looked spectacular. Wonderful, flattering dress in a vibrant color.

As for the phone, I am amazed that anyone is marketing that sort of thing right now. Yes, yes – some people can still afford it, but . . .

  4. The slum dog millionaire kids are so cute and charming. Amazing to me that they actually reside in those slums, imagine the new turns their lives will -hopefully- take now!

  5. My favorite was the blue dress!

  6. I like the orange gown the best – she looked lovely!

  7. That phone is just plain ridiculous!

  8. Those kids were the hit of the show for me. They really appreciated being there. And, they sure looked great!

  9. I thought Robin chose the most flattering for her! Did you like it??

  10. I love that street sign too…. I wonder who named it?

  11. I’ve seen the Gracie dress in the J Crew catalog, but didn’t make the connection with the dress Robin Roberts wore – it looks pretty in orange.

  12. I love that she did not go with a huge dresser and a dress that costs tons of money. so responsible, especially in this economy!

  13. I heard that two of the Sludog kids are being given houses because they actually live in slums. I haven’t seen the movie yet, probably should. That orange is a fun color!

  14. I think the orange color is gorgeous on her!
