Lilly Pulitzer Spring 2012 Gifts & Stationery

Hello-Hello, and happy Monday.

We thought nothing would be better to start a fresh week than a look at some of the new goodies in our spring Lilly Pulitzer Stationery and Gifts collection. We begin with a group of items that is already very popular, the new Acrylic Collection.

Lilly Pulitzer Spring 2012 at PreppyPrincess.com

There are Pitchers, Tumblers and Wine Glasses in spring’s pretty prints, all are in stock and ready to ship now.  That includes the Nice to See You and Luscious pitchers, they are dishwasher safe, BPA, phthalate, and lead free, retailing at $21.95.  (The pitchers hold 56 ozs. of your favorite beverage, I think even Miss Janice would say that is a heap ‘o sweet tea!)

Above we also show the matching glasses, each of these holds 18 ounces, they are $19.50 for a set of two, available in Nice to See You and Luscious.

Of course, there are bright new patterns in the acrylic Wine Glasses that match the tumblers and pitchers. I don’t think I’m alone in saying the Wine Glass Sets have emerged as a go-to hostess gift on more than one occasion, they are $19.50 per set of two.

This spring’s patterns are Luscious, Nice to See You and Fan Dance, like the other pieces in this group, the wine glasses are BPA-, Lead-, and Phthalate-free, as well as dishwasher safe.

There are also new paper party supplies to perk up your table.

Yours truly has a fondness for flamingos just ask the neighbors, , you can guess which pattern popped out at us first, the Fan Dance napkins and paper plates are definitely smile-inducing. But we’ll always have a soft spot for pink and green, the Chum Bucket napkins and paper plates are sure to brighten up any table. (These are also in stock and ready to ship, plates are $5 for a set of 8, napkins are also $5 for a set of 20.)

The Consort thinks I should be using these all the time, he seems to believe there are issues with spillage (it washed out of the carpet, honestly), so seeing me with a lid on my drink makes him particularly glad to see the Eco Tumblers return in even more patterns, these beauties arrived last week, they are $14.95.

Oodles of paper products have arrived in the last week, these Notebook Sets are just part of the batch.  For only $7 you receive a set of two 4″ x 6″ notebooks filled with lined and perforated paper, that is a price that is pocketbook friendly.

The bigger size is 22″ long x 13″ wide x 13″ high, the smaller bin runs 12.5″ long x 10″ wide x 10.5″ high. We expect to have these in stock in another week or two.

It’s Springtime at The Princess!

Hello-Hello, welcome to another day of fun and frivolity here at The Prepatorium.

In the interest of lifting spirits just a tad we are going to look at springtime goodies today, avoiding coverage of London Fashion Week in favor of something more crassly commercial entertaining.

Everyone knows we go a little gaga for things with a nautical theme; you can imagine our reaction when first seeing this Giant Whale Eraser from our spring Jonathan Adler collection.

PreppyPrincess.com

The erasers come in four patterns ($9.50), they *all* make a fabulous style statement on your desk.

There are other Adler treasures using that cute whale design, including Sticky Notes ($8.50).

PreppyPrincess.com

The Binder Clips Set ($9.50) also incorporates the whale design.

PreppyPrincess.com

We are just tickled to see nautically-inclined items in our spring Lilly Pulitzer Stationery & Gifts collection, like the stickers that are in this year’s Stickers and Labels Set ($9.50).

PreppyPrincess.com

More Lilly items carrying the nautical theme, one of the new Note Cube ($15.50 ) designs, as well as the Hit Me! Playing Cards ($17.50).

The new Note Cubes come with a Lilly pen, and have 600 sheets printed with snappy designs. The “You’re Flagged” pattern is also seen on the spring Market Bags ($9.50) and the new iPhone 3G/4G cases. (The iPhone cases are mostly in, the Touch cases won’t arrive until April.)

Back to Jonathan Adler, another new item this spring is really for the pet(s) in residence at your Palace.

PreppyPrincess.com

Colorful collars and leads are done with durable canvas and grosgrain ribbon, and while we love our custom leads and collars, these are a bright, vibrant alternative.

The Collars and Leashes run from $14.50 to $17.50, we will have them in stock in April. Another item expected from Mr. Adler in April:

iPhone 3G/4G Covers in the Chevron, Plume and Links patterns.

The Consort has used an Adler case on his iPhone for months, he likes it so much now he wants an Adler iPad Cover ($29.50).

PreppyPrincess.com

Of course, yours truly also wants to try out the new Lilly Pulitzer iPad Covers due here in April. Just when we are getting him adjusted to our monogramed iPad cover! (We’ll share that in a moment.)

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Another new addition here at The Princess, Baby Prep, with über-snuggly baby blankets ($24) bordered in argyle and sailboats.

There are insulated Bottle Bags ($10) in oh-so-preppy madras and argyle prints.

The Burp Cloth Sets are darling ($12 for a four-pack), as are the Washcloth Sets ($12 for a pack of five).

We have enjoyed such a strong reaction to our Tiny Prep line for your Young Misses and Masters, it seemed only appropriate we offer goods for newborns and infants!

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Finally today, we show off share some of our nifty new iPad cases by Lovie & Dodge.

PreppyPrincess.com

With apologies for our less-than-stellar photos, here are bigger images.

These are now shipping to customers, and soon we will have personalized sleeves for laptops.

The sleeves will be available for 13″ and 15″ laptops, both these and the iPad cases make ideal graduation gifts.

That is a fraction of the new goods arriving daily, we hope there is something that tickles your fancy!

J. Crew Fall 2010 Wedding & Lilly Pulitzer Stationery Goes Paperless…?

Hello-Hello, welcome to a Wednursday here at the Prepatorium. Yes, a Wednursday – that’s what happens when you combine two days of the week into one, precisely what we are attempting with our post, the schedule is a bit frenzied these days and this is the best we can offer at this point.

We begin with a look at styles from the fall J. Crew Weddings & Parties collection.

Courtesy J. Crew via FabSugar

There are some lovely confections.

A few frocks are almost impossible to view properly online because of the light colors and softness of the design.

As with all Crew Bridal looks, the detailing can be exquisite.

Pieces are crafted of silk taffeta, chiffon, and faille.

It appears chunky statement jewelry remains in vogue at Crew.

Most of the silhouettes are true to Crew’s clean, unfussy aesthetic.

But not all.

J. Crew calls the fall palette “cotton candy colors,’ there are rich neutral and earth tones, with few splashes of color.

Here is one of those palettes showing the colors for gowns in silk taffeta.

The dresses are available for pre-order, and the lookbook can be seen online.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

We also have a look at the just-launched Lilly Pulitzer online only stationery and invitation group at e-stationer CocoDot.

Couurtesy CocoDot.com

CocoDot provides what are commonly known as e-greetings, things like e-vites, e-cards, etc. You may select from blank templates and fill in the appropriate text.

There are too many delightful patterns to count. In addition to words, photographs may also be used to create the desired look.

While we see the beauty of online correspondence in some circumstances (small thank you notes for online courtesies come to mind), wedding invitations via the interwebs?  Non, non, non!

Despite the lovely palettes…

Courtesy CocoDot.com

And stunning Lilly designs…

Courtesy CocoDot.com

Wedding invitations need to arrive the old-fashioned way.  As does most other correspondence.

Buuuuut…..if one is inclined to engage in this sort of thing, and we are (gasp) on a wee, small scale, CocoDot is the service we are likely to use.

Now before anyone starts sending nastygrams in our direction, let’s not get our whiskers in a wad. We recognize and respect the notion we are partaking of a verboten practice. Heresy that is especially distasteful for someone engaged in selling Lilly Pulitzer invitations and stationery made of real paper, as we are.

However, there are individuals we only know online, for whom we have no physical address, virtual acquaintances if you will, people we may not want to ask for their address.  A personalized online greeting to thank a Lilly friend, or say ‘hello’ to a casual online associate seems in perfectly acceptable taste; using the CocoDot product makes sense in that respect. Vastly superior to one of our tedious emails.

CocoDot works like other ‘paperless post’ services, one pays a fee to join, differing levels of memberships are offered.  For anyone else considering this sort of thing, In-style readers can save 30% on an annual membership by using the code INSTYLE at checkout.

InStyle

We shall always offer paper Lilly Pulitzer products here at the Princess, the two methods for staying in touch and extending invitations and other greetings are not mutually exclusive.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Next, an interesting take on the Ferragamo fall ad campaign from Lauren at Fashionista.

Courtesy Ferragamo via Fashionista

Her issue? The company’s efforts to “… freshen up the Ferragamo brand for a younger audience…”.

“I don’t think that they succeed, nor do I want them to. I like Salvatore Ferragamo because it’s the best in old lady-chic.

I’ve got a couple pairs of those vintage bow flats, with the square little heel and gold charms. I bet spokesmodel Dree Hemingway does, too. Why? Because they look great. And they are great. They don’t need to be modernized or updated. The Vara pump, to me, is as classic as a Chanel ballet flat.

So instead of trying to be something it’s not, Ferragamo should embrace what it is. Soon enough, everyone will be pining for Vara pumps all over again.”

We heartily endorse that sentiment.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

We leave you with this item, we simply must have your esteemed and refined opinions on these:

Courtesy Nike via Coco Perez

This is what happens when Nike meets Hunter, at least that’s our impression, and also what Coco Perez notes in his post on the boots.

Courtesy Nike via Coco Perez

What thinketh everyone? Hot… or merely hideous?

Oops, we almost forgot (this is the last-last thing, honest, promise!) the reminder about the sale on the Lands’ End Canvas collection.  Yesterday we mentioned the LL Bean Signature sale and we know some readers are devotees of this group as well.

Happy hunting.

Gossip Girls Do Chanel, New Designer Baby Goods at Targét

Hello-Hello and Happy Thursday from the corner condo here at The Prepatorium!

We apologize for the completely disorganized random nature of today’s post, we have only a few items to offer as we are simply swimming in a frenzy of business. Not that we complain, mind you, nay-nay, but there just are not enough hours in the day.

We begin with a summertime update on those favorite faux prep-school students from Gossip Girl.  It is the fall couture season, both Blake Lively and Leighton Meester were front row at Tuesday’s Chanel show in Paris.  WWD’s Stephane Feugere took these first two photos.

Ms. Meester wore leather Chanel while Ms. Lively was in a silk Chanel frock; both wore Christian Louboutin heels.

Ms. Meester and Ms. Lively, along with many other cast members, are shooting next season’s episodes in La Ville-Lumière (the City of Light).  We have nary a clue as to whether or not the following advisory is needed (TP has never seen an episode of the program), but we’ll trust the Women’s Wear Daily story; it carries an alert, so we shall share this advance warning as well.

***SPOILER ALERT***

There. Now it is safe to share a few tidbits:

“Blake Lively — aka Serena van der Woodsen — let slip a few plot hints at the Chanel couture show. “It involves hidden identities and Chuck and Blair bumping into each other, and just love affairs and beautiful clothes,” she said.”

Photo: FAME

Looking at the image of Ms. Lively approaching the set, we are more concerned about the return of even bigger shoulder pads are on the way than any plotlines. Below, costars Ed Westwick and Ms. Meester are seen in costume.

Even we can tell that this next snippet from the WWD story is safe to share, it shan’t ruin any upcoming episodes:

“Leighton Meester said she had just taken a break from her role as queen bee Blair Waldorf by playing a character who is “sort of dorky and uptight and a bit insecure” in the teen flick “Monte Carlo,” co-starring Selena Gomez and Katie Cassidy.”

Here are two more looks, via JustJared.

There may actually be some Chanel/Gossip Girl linkage if the rumors this photo prompted are reality.

Trago/FilmMagic via Glamour UK

The picture of Blake Lively and Karl Lagerfeld leaving the Ritz together has many speculating that the Chanel Grand-Pooh-Bah might be making a guest appearance on the show.

Another Gossip Girl phenom was spotted at men’s Fashion Week in Milan.

Giuseppe Cacace/AFP/Getty

Chace Crawford put in an appearance at the Dolce & Gabbana show last month.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Of course, everyone who is anyone on Planet Fashion is in Paris.

Gonzalo Fuentes/Reuters

We are simply smitten by the ensemble seen on Ms. Wintour below.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Next, a look at some of the new infant goodies now available at Le Boutique Targét.

Target Courtesy Image via All the Rage

Several new designer collections are now available at Target through mid-October, according to this report at All the Rage. The cute pink and green items seen above are by Baby Buggy for Target, the other line being offered is by Little Seed, a maker of organic cotton goods.

Courtesy Target

Another special edition item at Le Boutique, Petunia Pickle Bottom Diaper Bags in pink, and on the right, the bag in blue.

Both are also known as ‘Clever Carryall Diaper Bags’; both are $49.99

The designer duds and accessories are all part of a larger fundraising effort for Baby Buggy, the charitable group providing baby necessities to those in need.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Two quick Mad Men notes. First, a different look for Betty Draper actress January Jones.

Courtesy via InStyle

Ms. Jones is seen here in the look done by celebrity hair stylist Mark Townsend as part of his new online magazine. We are more used to this style for Betty.

AMC-TV

Our other note comes via Very Short List, a look at the soon-to-be-released “Mad Men Unbuttoned: A Romp Through 1960’s America.”

From the VSL story:

“Here you’ll find anecdotes and analyses of a time passed. Did you know, for instance, that Don Draper is based on a real ad man named Draper Daniels? Or that a polite wedding night in the ’60s didn’t involve sex? If yes, there’s plenty more.”

The book is available for pre-ordering at Amazon.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

And a few quick updates to our Monday and Tuesday posts on the Lilly Pulitzer Fall 2010 Gift and Stationery Collection.  (Those not fond of Lilly can simply skip to our next items.)

  • Our first shipment of the new Lilly Agenda Books and Pocket Agendas arrives here at Princess Intergalactic HQ tomorrow! The Consort & I mighty Princess staff will have them turned around and winging their way to you late tomorrow or early Saturday.
  • The Lilly Personalized Acrylic Home Collection should be available around September 1st. As soon as we know more and have product photos we will post them on our Facebook page and/or here.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

We share a few Argyle Adventures, these two via Under the Palm Tree; both are Lilly sweaters, both are reduced in price to $76.80 and both were originally $128.  The are also both the same model, on the left, the Halle sweater in pink and green argyle on white and on the right, the pink argyle Halle V-Neck.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Two quick Sales & Savings opportunities to share, the first at Vineyard Vines.

Vineyard Vines

And also at Garnet Hill.

GarnetHill.com

Because we care about the state of your pocketbook.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Our final image is another sent by our friend MLD (she of the Jon Hamm/Mad Men Mizzou story), this one answers the question “How hot is it?”

(No, that is not Silly Tilly, she said it was too hot for any photo ops!)

Lilly Pulitzer Fall 2010 Stationery and Gift Collection (Part 1)

Hello-Hello, welcome to The-Day-After-the-Fourth-of-July here at the Prepatorium.

We have a singular theme today, a look at the new goodies for from the Fall 2010 Lilly Pulitzer Stationery & Gifts collection. We begin with the oh-so-popular Lilly Agenda books.

Lilly Pulitzer 2011 Agenda Books

PreppyPrincess.com

As noted in the picture, these are 17-month Agendas, the months begin with this August and run through December 2011. (How scary does that sound, 2011?)  The Large Agendas may be ordered now ($24.50); they will be shipped within the next week to ten days.  The new patterns are (L to R) Checking In, Koi, and White Zin.

PreppyPrincess.com

The Pocket Agendas may also be ordered now; they come in the same three patterns and have the same shipping timetable. TP is going to have a dickens of a time selecting only one.

As with the previous Agendas, these include Month at a Glance and day by day for the actual calendar portions, several blank pages for notes, an inside folder pocket and elastic band closure.

Now we move to Fall products that may be pre-ordered, with shipping slated for mid-August. One of our faves from the new Collection has to be the new Lilly Water Bottles; these are so, so smart in terms of the environment (not to mention your pocketbook), and so, so Pretty in Pink.

Lilly Adult Water Bottles
PreppyPrincess.com

The Adult Bottles are $17.50, they come in the new fall patterns: Checking In, Coral Me Crazy, Koi, and White Zin. Coral Me Crazy is a pattern we have previously posted about (here and here), a design many readers are already familiar with. Below we show the motif in other products, including the Lilly Girls’ Printed Pant in Limeade Coral Me Crazy (L), along with the Maxi Skirt in the Daiquiri Pink colorway (R), both striking.

In tomorrow’s post we’ll share the Children’s Water Bottles, they are fun too.

Many readers are familiar with TP’s iPhone challenges (most notably here), but we remain loyal and devoted to the gadget. Now we have another reason to love it, the much-anticipated Lilly iPhone cases ($19.50).

Lilly Pulitzer iPhone Cases

PreppyPrincess.com

Available for pre-ordering, the iPhone covers fit only the 3G and 3GS models, they do not fit any other products.

Our final new product for today, Lilly Laptop Cases.

Lilly Pulitzer Laptop Cases

These look so fun, available in Checking In and Patch Day.  The Laptop Sleeves ($36.50) are made of neoprene and fit screens up to 15.4” and may also be pre-ordered.

Here are the particulars on the Lilly Fall Stationery Collection:

  • As mentioned above, the Agendas will ship approximately July 10
  • We are now taking pre-orders for the other goodies in the fall line; we expect to ship pre-ordered merchandise in mid-August
  • As always, we gift wrap at no charge and are happy to include a gift card with your order, so do let us know if it is a special present for someone
  • To be on top of the latest news and receive special discount offers on our Lilly collection, sign up for our Lilly Pulitzer newsletter here. (You will need to scroll down a bit, the box you are looking for is on the lower right of the page.) You can rest easy when signing up, we will never sell or share your email address or other personal information, that is a promise.

As might be expected, we’re a little giddy over all the new goodies, but not so engrossed we forget to say ‘thank you’ for popping in, we do hope everyone enjoying the day off is having a splendid fifth!

Lilly Pulitzer Home for Fall 2010, & Next Release of Lilly Stationery & Gifts

Hello-Hello, what an incredibly busy day we are experiencing here in the corner condo at Princess InterGalactic HQ! The barely controlled chaos goings-on force us to do a *very* brief post, with apologies for our dereliction in duty and a promise to do better tomorrow.

We begin with a quick look at some of the fall styles for the Lilly Pulitzer Home Collection, via the bright minds at Atlanta Home.

Courtesy Image via Atlanta Homes

The Lilly Pulitzer for Garnet Hill Collection only launched this spring, marking the company’s return to the category after several years.  Below, another ensemble from the fall line.

Courtesy Image via Atlanta Homes

The print above looks outstanding, the blue and white lattice or trellis print seen below is also promising.  And while fond of an all-white look with an accent color or two, the shower curtain seen below right didn’t exactly make our heart go pitter-patter. Hhhhmmm.

The new styles début August 8 at Garnet Hill. Our thanks to Atlanta Homes magazine for sharing the images! To read their entire post, click here.  Below we see two styles from this current collection, the Lily of the Valley bedding (L) and the Foxgloves Shower Curtain on the right.

We do enjoy our pink and green!

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

We are even more excited about new goodies due for our fall group of Lilly Pulitzer Stationery and Gifts!

via Whitney English

Yes, those are Lilly umbrellas up above, slated for a late summer launch. The snappy ‘action shot’ was taken by the good folks at Whitney English during one of this week’s downpours at the Stationery Show.  You can also see the Jonathan Adler designs above, we are sure to add these to our collection of Adler designs.

Also coming your way with the fall line of Lilly:

  • Magnet Sets, shaped like shift dresses
  • Laptop Sleeves
  • Cell Phone/iPhone Covers
  • Agenda Books, done in an academic-year format, Aug. 2010 through December 2011; these will be in the Regular and Pocket Agenda sizes (just like this year)
  • New Paper Dolls
  • Adult and Child-sized Aluminum Water Bottles

And we are excited to be introducing the new line of Lilly Pulitzer Personalized Home Accessories that will include:

  • 2 sizes of Acrylic Serving Trays
  • Acrylic Recipe Box
  • Acrylic Ice Bucket
  • Acrylic Coasters

There are more goodies; as always, we’ll be taking pre-orders when we get closer to the actual roll-out of these items.  The best way to stay up to speed is with our Lilly Pulitzer mailing list, sign up on our front page. (You may need to scroll down, the info is on the lower right hand side of the home page.)

We couldn’t be more tickled about the new merchandise, many of these items are not only delightful, they will solve innumerable gift-giving dilemmas!

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

We close with today’s Pretty in Pink, the Barbie Suite at the Plaza Athénée.

That is very pink indeed.

The Consort Gets A Mannerly Rap On The Knuckles

Hello-hello, all.  The Consort strolling casually mikeside to share a moment while The (lovely and talented) Princess recovers from a migraine.  I hope I’m not being rude and you’ll excuse my interrupting your day.  And that’s my point today: Manners.

While browsing the Wall Street Journal today I noticed an obit for Elizabeth Post.  Does the name ring a bell?  Perhaps her husband’s grandmother might be more familiar.  Emily Post wrote “Etiquette: The Blue Book of Social Usage”, the 1922 book that has never been out of print.

Courtesy: Etsy

Elizabeth Post updated the classic book and was a gentle guide through the turbulent 1960s, 1970s and until she retired in 1995.  Her advice was grounded in the reality of the times in which we lived.   But now I wonder what has become of our manners?

Many of you readers are parents.  Do you pass on to your children the same etiquette lessons you learned?  I had an interesting experience the other day while having a conversation with a teenager.  While we were talking her cellphone rang.  She stopped our talk, turned sideways to me and began a phone conversation.  Perhaps I’m being overly sensitive but I couldn’t help but feel a bit put off.  I was also amused by the situation of being put on “live hold” in a face-to-face convo (as the kids nowadays like to say).

One of the things we enjoy most about sending out packages from The Preppy Princess is including a handwritten note in each box.  The Princess is much better at this because she is the more gifted writer in our family.  Isn’t sending a note a polite thing to do?  The power of the handwritten note cannot be ignored.  I know I get a special feeling when I open up a note from someone who took the time to take out a notecard, pick up a pen, write down their thoughts and mail the card to me.  Personalized notecards do not have to be budget-busters.  We found some wonderful personalized cards that are great for fiscally responsible men or women.

I remember when I was just a Young Consort I was looking forward to my first “big” dinner-dance.  It was to be a semi-formal event and I was escorting a delightful young woman.  A week before the big night my parents took me to the restaurant where I would be taking my date for dinner.  They wanted to make sure I was prepared to deal with ordering from a menu and how I conducted myself with our server.  They reminded me to be polite, use names and not “Hey, you” and how to figure a generous tip.  When I reflect on that night I realize how important that “test flight” was for me.

But enough of me.  What are some of the etiquette lessons you’ve learned?  Do they still apply today?  Let’s share with the group.

Look at the time!  I have to go check on my lovely bride so I will leave you with my usual advice:  Take care of your waitperson tonight because they’re working hard for you.  I’ll leave you with three gentlemen who know their way around a fretboard or two.  Good night, everyone!
