This is simply one of those days when The Princess get a lump in her throat at certain sights and sounds.
Like the White House at dawn…
An early morning line at the polling place…
Little Cayden Andrews, 3, absorbing democracy as his father Josh Andrews votes at a Wisconsin Town Hall.
U.S. soldiers registered to vote cast their last minute ballots northeast of Baghdad, November 4, 2008.
Our heart also tends to swell up a bit here at the Prepatorium when seeing other Election Day images, like a father with his two sons….
Because no matter where one came from….
Or who was ‘watching’ when they went to their local precinct….
Most agreed that it is okay to disagree.
TP believes that no matter the language…
No matter the attire…
No matter the reading material…
No matter the location of the polling place….
As long as one keeps it clean….
It did not matter how long the line stretched…
Or what you had to go through to get there, including US Naturalized Citizenship ceremonies in Baghdad….
The outcome is the same. We all get to choose.
Ultimtaely, it is all about many different elections, but this is the one gaining the most attention. It would seem preparations are underway already for the next step in the process.
That is early conctruction on the Inaugural viewing stand.

Today there are even bonus treats throughout the country for those who participated in the process, starting with this:
Yep, that would be a fat pill aka ‘lard bomb’ delicious donut up above. Because we are always looking for fiscally friendly opportunities to enhance one’s life, here are just a few of the rewards available to those doing the right thing today:
- a free donut with patriotic sprinkles is yours at Krispy Kreme if you have an “I Voted” sticker
- a free small cup of coffee at Starbucks if you tell them you voted
- a free scoop of ice cream at Ben & Jerry’s from 5-8pm tonight at participating Ben and Jerry’s; click on the preceding link for their page detailing which shops are taking part in the promotion.
Now, the following isn’t free, but definitely topical and you just knew TP couldn’t exclude some sort of ‘preppy retailer’ in the post! We are talking about Brooks Brothers, wisely marketing their Donkey and Elephant ties
We must fly! We just enjoyed a delightful chat with friends on their way to this…..
…for the big party in the park, and we completely neglected to keep an eye on the clock. Arrgghh! Having said this, it doesn’t mean the Biltmore won’t be hosting the victory party….we just don’t have the graphic image.
Happy Voting Day!
