Hello-Hello, and welcome to another springtime day at The Prepatorium, the kind of day when one’s thoughts might turn to…. weddings.
A very dear friend’s daughter is getting married in just over a month. The bride shared a picture with us taken when she was trying on The Dress and she. is. stunning. We have known her since she was in grade school and she is a beauty, both inside and out. Tears will flow.
Looking at her photo again today made me think of Bridal Week, it wrapped up just a week or so ago. The dresses that were shown are for spring of 2014.
The exquisite dress seen above is by Oscar de la Renta Bridal, as are the following three frocks.
The spring collection for Mr. de la Renta included color.
Many styles had sleeves.
Silhouettes included ballgowns and mermaid styles, as well as peplums.
There were styles for the younger members of the wedding party too.
As always, Monique Lhuillier showed stunning dresses.
The handwork that goes into these gowns is nothing short of amazing.
As with the Oscar de la Renta collection, quite a few dresses provided more coverage. That was the case for Ms. Lhuillier with both long and short styles.
Ms. Lhuillier also showed what many have come to think of as basic contemporary wedding dresses.
It is always fun to see the runway models having fun, these young ladies are enjoying their enormous diamonds, “accessories” for the show.
I like this photo because it allows you to better see the fabrics. Really.
Ms. Lhuillier’s shoe styles offered multiple styles and fabrics.
You can see all of the Spring 2014 dresses and shoes on the Monique Lhuillier Facebook page.
Carolina Herrera also showed short dresses.
Again, we saw a significant number of looks with covered shoulders.
Necklines were off the shoulder, bateau, and vee neck.
More with covered shoulders.
But there were also plenty of choices from Ms. Herrera for those desirous of a bare-shouldered look.
The collection offered several styles that yours truly refers to as “fairytale princess dresses.”
As well as a number of gowns that can only be called ‘showstoppers.’
You can view all of the dresses for Spring 2014 on the Carolina Herrera Facebook page, as well as the Carolina Herrera website. The latter site offers multiple options, like enhanced zoom views and dress details, such as fabric, embellishment information, and more.
It is nice to see more options offered for those seeking both elegance and modesty. Or those who simply don’t feel their neck and shoulders are their best features. The collections for next spring provide a broad range of styles and looks, there definitely appeared to be something for everyone.
