Bits & Bytes

Hello-Hello, happy summer to each and every one of our treasured readers, we *do* appreciate you popping in for a visit.

We have quite a broad range of tidbits today, we begin with one of our favorite signs of summer, tennis championships at the All England Club. Below we see Rafa Nadal playing this morning (US time), the photo comes via the official Wimbledon Twitter feed:

Unfortunately Venus Williams lost in her first round, she continues to be impacted by Sjogren’s syndrome, the autoimmune disease keeping her from playing in peak form. The star is about to relaunch EleVen, the fashion line previously sold at Steve and Barry’s.  The new line is a ‘tennis lifestyle brand’.

Serena Williams won her first round match today, she moves on to the second round. Venus and Serena will play doubles together at the Olympics, they’ll both be in Nike dresses, as Nike is Serena’s apparel sponsor.

As usual, Polo Ralph Lauren continues to be official uniform supplier for ball boys and girls.

Wimbledon has a great page with info about the ball boys and girl, I didn’t realize that girls were not allowed until 1977, and that it was 1985 before they appeared on Centre Court.

Next, the Princess gets crafty. (Okay, not really, we just wanted to send everyone into a shock, heh-heh.) In reality we are talking about other ladies who have been crafty, very much so. Below we see a fabulous ladder in Lilly, created by the one and only Caitlin.

Caitlin took an ordinary stepstool and covered it in Lilly Pulitzer paper, making something darling from what is generally a very humdrum household item. She didn’t stop with one, below left we show a second stool covered in pretty paper.

Another crafty Lilly project? Katie from Sweet, Pink and Preppy shows us how she made coasters for her bridesmaids using old Lilly Agendas.

Katie used cut up pages and some Mod Podge to create these, here is the finished project.

We wanted to share a few of these ideas because we are selling our few remaining 2011-2012 Lilly Agendas inventory for only $5. They really do offer a host of possibilities for crafting, it is great to send them to good homes where they will be used!

A nearby church youth group will Flamingo your house. It’s a fundraiser for them–so fun to get home from school or work and find Flamingos on your lawn!

  4. You’ve got some crafty pals! And my best friend is at Wimbledon right now. Her husband and boys CAMPED to get tickets while she slept in a hotel:). Some women have it wired, don’t they…

  5. Pink Flamingos make brilliant summer party gifts. Buy a few extras and bring along to your next BBQ. Also – I’ve been known to bring them as Christmas Holiday gifts – especially if there is snow on the ground!!!
