Say Goodbye to Two Gossip Girls, And It’s Round Two for Princess Beatrice’s Hat

Hello-Hello, happy middle ‘o the week to everyone.

We are brief again today, beginning with an update on everyone’s favorite faux-prep school show, Gossip Girl.  From the Ministry of Gossip blog:

“”Gossip Girl” actresses Taylor Momsen and Jessica Szohr — the two bad girls from the wrong side of Manhattan — are leaving the CW show.”

Below we see Ms. Szohr (L), and on the right, Ms. Momsen with co-star Ed Westwick.

(From what we gather this this isn’t much of a shock for those who watch the show, unfortunately your Princess Ignoramus is not up to speed on any all things GG.)

Another Gossip Girl star has been busy this week.  Chanel showed its Winter 2012 (eek!) cruise collection in Cap d’Antibes, and “brand ambassador” Blake Lively was on hand. Below she is seen at the dinner with Chanel Pooh-bah Karl Lagerfeld.

For the “Collection Croisiere 2012” show Ms. Lively was in a more revealing ensemble, we show her with Monaco’s Princess Caroline and her daughter, Princess Alexandra, they attended the event as well.

The setting for the show was the storied Hotel du Cap.

Many of the looks were understated elegance at its best.

However… we are constitutionally incapable of contemplating next winter’s resort collections when we have yet to experience spring’s arrival.

In today’s Bits & Bytes:

Boyle + Gardner for The Wall Street Journal

Saturday’s Journal carried a solid story on a preppy basic, the ribbon belt, explaining that “…now, however, the ribbon belt has pretty much gone back to the rarefied realm from which it came.”

There is also news that “celebri-chef” Paula Deen will launch another home line, separate from her furniture collection.  Launching next spring, the new group will include bedding, bath, lighting and decorative accessories.

One quick OPB (Official Princess Business) note, in the next several weeks we’ll be sharing scads of new goodies being unveiled at the National Stationery Show. Here is a an early look at pieces from the new home acrylics collection we will be offering from Boatman Geller.

Our final note today involves everyone’s favorite chapeau. (BTW, can we just say there seems to be *a lot* going on in this photo?!)

It seems Princess Beatrice’s fascinator is going to be auctioned for a good cause.  Sarah Ferguson is on Oprah today, and during the show she apparently shares the news the hat will be listed on eBay, with proceeds being donated to UNICEF and Children in Crisis.

There you have it.

  1. That hat wouldn’t have been so dreadful if only she’d worn different, less, eyeliner.

  2. Preppy 101

I am glad they are being kind and generous with the proceeds from the auction – will be very interesting to see how much they get . . . I do adore Chanel. Everything is so classic and beautiful! xoxo

  3. First of all, I laughed out loud at several comments in this post- most notably ‘there seems to be a lot going on in this photo.’ LOL While I can’t even begin to think about winter, that runway show is something out of a dream. Blake and Karl are bff these days, no?!

  4. I don’t watch Gossip girl except to occasionally check out what they are wearing but I love what Blake L is wearing above..must be Chanel, the gorgeous white two piece, do NOT like her hair color though, doesn’t suit her!!
Love Boatman Geller….what a great line, love all the new things coming out..so cute!!
That hat just won’t die and go away will it? It is so dreadul…just like something that keeps haunting us over and over, the thing literally scares me like a rodent does…yuck!! It is THAT bad. How lovely that she wants to use it to raise money…I really hope it will be able to do just that. It will require a gallant effort by all.

  5. In addition to comments already made, I believe the two daughters, of Andrew and Sarah, definitely have their mother’s fashion sense (or sense of humor). Oh well, I guess it could be worse? : (

  6. Ooh, those new BG goodies are adorable – looking forward to their arrival at your Intergalactic HQ!

Speaking of intergalactic, what excellent news that Princess Beatrice’s fascinating fascinator being auctioned off for a good cause. That makes one good thing about its existence.

  7. Call me crazy but Princess Beatrice’s outfit isn’t terribly offensive to me. Or at least not compared to Princess Eugenie’s wretched ensamble. From the hat to the dress that is lopsided, 80’s granny and just flat out doesn’t fit and ugly shoes…

  8. I feel so badly for poor Princess Beatrice. I don’t love her hat, but I don’t think it was the ugliest hat at the event. Those girls are given such a hard time because their mother is unpopular.

  9. I thought Blake was just supposed to be the Mademoiselle bag line ambassador – I really don’t think she is appropriate as a main spokesperson. That being said, the cruise line is absolutely beautiful – and what a setting! And what can I say about Beatrice’s hat – the auction is the best thing that ever happened to it!

  10. Jen

Well, at least the hat will go to a good cause. Not sure what else you would do with it. Might look interesting on someone’s mantle. Maybe Elton John should bid on it?
On the side, I’ve always wanted to go to the Hotel du Cap. Ahh, the lifestyles of the rich and famous.

  11. I LOVE Blake 🙂 She is so adorable! As for “the hat”…OMG

  12. The Hotel du Cap…. I wonder if they have a package plan? “giggles” The hat, I can appreciate its fashion forwardness but I think this is a runway thang…
