Hello-Hello and Happy Friday!
We must begin with an item only The Consort would think up: when showing him an outrageous pair of shoes from this week’s Alexander McQueen show at Paris Fashion Week, he immediately said “Whoever designed those must have a Bedlington Terrier.”
The shoes:

ImaxTree
The dog:
As his mother has been known to say, “His mind is God’s own special mystery.”

And we thought it would be fun to share a few Adventures in Argyle, beginning with the Lacoste Bed in a Bag at Macy’s.
Lacoste is also running their Sweater Event promotion, offering 30% off their Fall Sweater inventory. Below left, the 3/4 Sleeve Cotton Cardigan, on the right, the Short-Sleeve V-neck.
The Men’s Sweaters at Lacoste are on sale as well.
Brooks Brothers is also breaking out what many consider to be a staple of the ‘preppy wardrobe’. While we like the Cashmere Twinset on the left, the Merino Argyle on the right just doesn’t seem well put together, or at least not properly fit on the model.
For a more fiscally-friendly style, here is a Merona Cotton Argyle now only $6.98 at Le Boutique Targèt. This is a Petite size, and as of this writing it was available in Medium to XX-Large. If Argyle Rain Boots speak to your inner fashionista, these come in two color combinations, also at Target.
One cautionary note on the boots, the two reviews left by customers aren’t terribly positive.
If more casual footwear is on your radar, the Pink & Chocolate Argyle Canvas Argyle at 6pm.com (Zappo’s lower-priced arm) are also kind to one’s wallet at $19.95 and available in a number of colors/patterns.
We complete today’s footwear section with a pair of shoes unlikely to make their way into TP’s closet: the Burberry Sneakers.
When it comes to argyle it doesn’t get much cuter than items for the little ones brightening our lives, like this Baby Gap Hoodie for the young master of the house.
Or how about a personalized pink and green Argyle Sippy Cup from the always-wonderful Lauren Nicole? Or perhaps blue? There’s even a Monogrammed Mug for Mom.
We cannot leave our argyle portion of the post without sharing a “When Preppy Goes Wrong“: note the pattern in the Prep School Cutie costume for Halloween.
Indeed.

We leave you with a new item at the Princess, just added to our offerings for the Preppy Home.
We are just gaga over our cute new magnet sets.
The magnets come four to a pack, and are available in all sorts of bright, vibrant designs and colors.
They work perfectly with our magnet boards from both Lilly Pulitzer and Lake House Designs.
And at $10 per pack we’re planning on these for some stocking stuffers and Hanukkah presents.
With this bit of shameless self-promotion (gasp!), we’ll close with wishes everyone enjoys a fun and fabulous weekend!
Woohoo you found PSP’s halloween costume…j/k
The Consort definitely called it with the Bedlingotn Terrier observation!! Too funny. And the “prep school” costume is most unfortunate.
I’ve been seeing those shoes all over in blogland. At least your explanation makes sense ;D
haha, that shoe definitely looks like that dog!! that is great
Love the argyle! Hmmm….those costume days are over for me! (hee, hee)
Love the bedding ensemble.
As for the shoes…………..I just wish I could have seen the model walk in those! HILARIOUS and only at fashion week!
Very cute magnets!
Where to start! First of all the bedding is to die for!! If I were going to college or lived alone—MINE! Love the BB sweater set and your magnets. Do you do car decals? I need to start Christmas shopping asap. Will be back! xoxo

Somehow I see Kingston Rossdale in the argyle hoodie…
Love all the argyle! Have a wonderful weekend!
The terrier/shoe comparison is killing me! The Consort has been on a roll lately. 🙂
Fun stuff…we love argyle at our house.
Hahah… the boyfriend is sitting next to me, loving the Bedlington terrier, hating the shoe. As for argyle, I am quite obsessed, but prefer to wear the pattern on my over-the-knee socks… I’ll leave that Halloween outfit for someone else to rock.
Those shoes are just crazy!
I need to order some rain boots and I saw that the review of most of the Target version weren’t terribly positive. They have ones that look exactly the same on Zappos, but they are about $20 more – I was going to get those, but I have this fear that they are the same brand/manufacturer, just more expensive and I’ll be ripped off.
Love the bedding- so cute!
Wow..those crazy heels really do look like a Bedlington Terrier. I laughed a little at his mother’s quote.
I really like the Merona argyle sweater from Target and I also love the cute sippy cups from Lauren Nicole Gifts.
The costume is um…well…we won’t go there.
I have to say that the new magnet sets are so cute!
I do love argyle. It does need to be worn judiciously, an overabundance screams golf outing gone wrong. You could be completely un-PC and have all your employees wear that trampy costume for Halloween. Well, then again, maybe not.
I think another blogger made the terrier observation too and I was just dying over it. It’s so true! I like the shoe better than the dog. Sad to say, that breed’s profile has always bothered me.
Oooooh, HATE those shoes and I don’t use that word without careful thought. Awful! And. that preppy Halloween costume is truly frightening.xoxo
okay- I am so glad that you made the terrier observation too- that was the first thing that I thought when I saw them! great minds think alike, right?!
kHm
Those shoes…whoa! I am kind of speechless. (had to say!). But really what made me want to comment was the cute magnet sets–they are adorable!!
Did you happen to catch the Patriots/Broncos game on Sunday? The endzones were painted in an argyle pattern! Very preppy!
The Beddlington Terrier thing thrills me…oh, how those shoes frighten me. They almost look like a UFO of sorts. How anyone could even put them on let alone walk in them baffles me! 🙂
I am an argyle lover, as well. Currently coveting an argyle sweater dress from Old Navy – what a fabulous way to welcome in fall! 🙂
Love the new magnets!
The Consort’s comment was hilarious and spot on!
Hahah… the boyfriend is sitting next to me, loving the Bedlington terrier, hating the shoe. As for argyle, I am quite obsessed, but prefer to wear the pattern on my over-the-knee socks… I’ll leave that Halloween outfit for someone else to rock.
Discovered your post when prepping a slideshow for my fashion theory students. Here’s my earlier observation, which WendyB was referencing, above: http://misscavendish.blogspot.com/2009/10/bedlington-or-bedlam-alexander-mcqueens.html I’ve been affectionately calling these shoes Bedlingtons ever since!
