Friday Fun: Those Department Store Windows!

Hello-Hello, and happy Friday. We hope everyone enjoyed Thanksgiving, we certainly did, although The Consort was a bit under the weather.  My biggest contribution was ensuring the marshmallows were “crunchy, but not burned”.

Today we are brief, sharing something that we hope will bring smiles to your faces, some of the holiday window displays in the city.

At Bergdorf they continue to exude an uptown elegance.

Saks unveiled its windows on Monday, you can see photos on the retailer’s Facebook page.

This year’s theme revolves around the snowflake, dancers from the American Ballet Theatre performed at the unveiling, and there was also a light show projected on the building.

Trace Adkins performed, the event was a benefit for the Red Cross, the entertainer is this year’s spokesperson for the organization’s Holiday Giving Campaign.

At Barneys, it’s all about ‘Disney’s Electric Holiday,’ below we show renderings of characters for the windows. Left to right, Minnie Mouse in Lanvin, Goofy wears Balmain, and Daisy Duck is dressed by Dolce and Gabbana.

The windows provoked controversy because of the slimmed-down Minnie Mouse, they were unveiled last week.
